Pediatric Physical Therapy

Who we are: Pediatric physical therapists evaluate and treat children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses. Pediatric physical therapists use a variety of fun and therapeutic methods to engage children in activities that will improve strength, endurance, coordination, balance, flexibility, posture, body awareness, gait, etc. Our diverse physical therapy staff includes individuals with certification as pediatric specialists, a licensed massage therapist, backgrounds in sports medicine, and many are also early intervention providers.

Who we treat: As pediatric physical therapists, we can treat any child from birth to 21 years of age with injuries and/or physical impairments that affect their everyday function and/or ability to keep up with peers.

This includes but is not limited to children with a diagnosis of:

  • Gross motor delay
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
  • Scoliosis
  • Toe Walking
  • Torticollis
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Genetic abnormalities/ Chromosomal deletions
  • Clubfoot
  • Spina bifida
  • RND
  • Barth Syndrome

We can also treat children with:

  • Muscle tightness
  • Chronic Pain
    • Lower back pain from injury or poor posture
    • Foot pain from poor biomechanics
  • Athletes with pain or injury who need to return to high level athletic play
  • Sprains
  • Muscle strains
  • Fractures
  •  Decreased:
    • Strength
    • Endurance
    • Coordination
    • Balance
    • Surgical procedures related to any of the above

How we evaluate and treat:

After a thorough evaluation of your child, a discussion of you and your child’s personal concerns and/or goals, and any physician recommendations, our physical therapists will develop an individualized plan of treatment based on your child’s unique needs. A specified number of treatments per week for a determined length of time will be set after the evaluation.

Throughout your child’s treatment, the physical therapist will continually provide information and education to your family on activities that will carry over what they do in therapy sessions into their home and school settings through home exercise programs. We work closely with local pediatricians and maintain communication with your child’s primary care physician and/or referring physician throughout their therapy. We will also assist you and your child through the processes of recommendation, ordering, and maintenance of bracing, orthotics, or any other appropriate medical equipment.

Our physical therapists will help you and your child achieve their goals through a wide variety of fun and creative techniques including:

    • Utilizing games, puzzles, coloring, etc.
